Receiving and Sacrificing for your Goals

Happy Blog on… Receiving and Sacrificing

Right about now you're probably realising that as you design, shape and realign your goals and what it is that you know you want to work on concurrently, you're also, without too much conscious thought changing to become the person who will succeed at these goals!

As you begin to vividly imagine the person you will be once you've achieved your goal daily, you are also beginning to envision who it is that you will need to become to OWN it! As we know through our energy work - you get out what you put in! You need to be open to receiving to enjoy the benefits of all your hard work.

Sometimes, when we think about receiving we don't feel deserving or competent enough to handle the idea of the outcome of our efforts, so its important to spend some time thinking about the person you need to become to be able to fully and consciously accept the desire you're working on manifesting into your life fully.

By working on who you need to become to achieve your goals, you start an open and honest conversation with yourself about the change you are about to undergo. By being honest with yourself you will begin to reveal the parts of Self that you may need to 'hand hold' or coach, into accepting your goal achievement. Remember if you can imagine it, you can realise it! So, ask yourself:

What are the skills I will need?

What sort of personality will I need?

Will I need to surround myself with different people?

If I had no fear, how would this go?

If you can imagine yourself as the version of You that has achieved your goal then you, to a greater extent, already ARE that person!! The more you think about it, the more focused you become on it, the more smoothly you will be able to transition to accept and receive. You see it's not so much about removing or deleting parts of yourself, its more like refining character and lifestyle habits that just don't support you building your dream and being able to successfully integrate it its accomplishment into your life.

For example:

"I have a goal to speak in front of 1000 people. The consequences of me achieving my goal are that I would have to confront my fears about being on stage"

Can you see where the misalignment is? Even if the goal were achieved and the person in the example above generated 1000 people to talk to, she would be unable to fully experience her achievement because her crippling fear of being on stage would stop her from even addressing the crowd she had worked so hard to manifest!

It's time to think around the goal itself and isolate any issues that may come up along the way so that you feel prepared and able to confront them when they arise.

Ask yourself questions like:

What negatives could emerge if you achieved your goals?

What would prevent you from really going for it?

How will achieving your goals negatively impact your current lifestyle?

Are there any ways in which your life would change that you would find difficult to deal with?

Keep working on this as you pursue your goals. Make a note of these questions and answer them as best you can so that you become more and more confident around the entire notion of the change you're looking to create. Revisit them to check that you're still in alignment.

Enjoy the creative on this! Its not meant to be hard work so much as a time of reflection, acknowledgement and release.

If you find that overwhelm or Fear keep coming up then just pause, take a breath and break that step down, spend some time feeling into what emotions are coming up and what you're making that mean. Centre in on your heart and remember to always show yourself compassion ... you are a beautiful work in progress and you're EXACTLY where you're supposed to be so knock any internal criticism on the head, do something that takes you into joy or happiness and once you've lifted and shifted your energy, try again

Big love and ENJOY!!!

The Colour in Emotions

The Colour in Emotions

As I continue to examine my emotional self, I am drawn to want to talk about colour and the incredible significance it has in our world…

Do you remember when you were young and one of the most popular questions asked to you of your friends was “what’s your favourite colour?”. The answer you gave seemed to matter so much, didn’t it?! And you may remember that unless you had an ABSOLUTE favourite colour, your answer would often change. Well, it turns out that our child selves were onto something! In our innocence as children, we were tapping subconsciously into the way the world and our perspective of it, is inspired by light and colour.

You see, everything we see is filtered through our unique perception of light. Sunlight, as the main source of natural light on the planet, is one source we are all familiar with. Using a prism, we can 'extract' all the colours from the white light of the sun and detect all 7 major colours. This is because as light moves through the prism it is slowed down and ‘refracted’., The retinas in our eyes work differently, however; they have three types of colour receptors which actually only detect three of the 7 visible colours - red - blue and green. It’s these three colours that are then computed in our brain to create all of the other colours we see... one more example of how incredible we all are!

In the same way that emotions and thoughts vibrate a certain energy, each colour on the spectrum expresses as a certain vibration or frequency of that ‘white’ light. The visible spectrum of colours expressed on Earth consists of seven main colours: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet, which sync in vibration with the 7 chakras of our energy bodies, hence the colour representation. Of course, we see gradients of these primary colours too, expressed by changes in energetic frequency... like when a tree pulls its energy (frequency) from its leaves to conserve energy for the winter and, subsequently, its leaves change colour through the change of vibratory energy.

The wavelength and frequency of light we see also influences the colour we recognise. The seven colours of the spectrum all have varying wavelengths and frequencies. Red is at the lower end of the spectrum and has a higher wavelength, but lower frequency to that of Violet, which is at the top end of the spectrum and has a lower wavelength and higher frequency.

With all that in mind, it makes sense that our surroundings may be influencing our emotions and state of mind. Do you ever notice that certain places especially irritate you? Or that certain places are especially relaxing and calming? There’s a good chance that the colours in those spaces are playing a part in that because, since we know that the energy around us and within us affects our emotions (and vice versa), it must be that energetic light vibrations also affect our emotions and, therefore, perspective. This also means that we can positively influence the mood or emotion/energy of our day by utilising colours with intention. If you want to feel confident, for example, you would wear black - which is linked to authority, power and strength. Colours like orange and yellow invoke happiness, excitement and cheer, blues and greens are more calm, natural associated with tranquillity, serenity and calm.

‘Art Therapy’ is a form of therapy in which colour is associated with a person’s emotions and behaviours and may also be used to influence a person’s mental or physical state. For example, studies have shown that some people looking at the colour red experienced an increased heart rate, which then led to additional adrenaline being pumped into the blood stream. As red is such an instinctual colour – think danger, the red of our blood – this makes perfect sense.

**Interesting to note here that in Advertising and Marketing, red is almost always used to promote a SALE, therefore invoking a response of action and increased heart rate - which is also aligned with excitement, passion and love! When I used to work in advertising, I realised that there were specific strategies employed by the marketing departments and Ad designers that utilised the emotional responses to colours, to sell everything from a Spa to an aeroplane seat!

There are also commonly noted psychological effects of colour in relation to its two main categories: warm and cool. Warm colours – such as red, yellow and orange – can spark a variety of emotions ranging from comfort and warmth to hostility and anger. Cool colours – such as green, blue and purple – often spark feelings of calmness as well as sadness. Think on this next time you’re planning on re-decorating!!

Attached are a couple of diagrams to illustrate different emotions and their corresponding colours and inferences.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this and how you personally use colour to inspire energy or emotion in your life - whether it be from the car you drive …to the clothes you wear… to your favourite flowers
